Encouraged by the Spirit

A Prosperous spirit is one that is dependent on the Spirit of God.

Today, as I was finishing dressing in the locker room at my workout facility I was prompted to say something to the guy changing beside me. I say I was prompted because typically I avoid talking in the locker room; I just don't tend to be chatty with other men in all different stages of undress.

However today was different. I shrugged off the thought at first, but then asked the Spirit if this was a prompting by Him. No, I did not get an audible answer but I'm learning that whenever I ask that question, it usually is the Spirit prompting me to do it. So I did.

I asked the thirty-something, 6 ft.3 man if he had a good workout (About the only thing I could think of.) And he responded that he did. And from there a small conversation occurred.

The interesting thing is, going into this conversation, I thought there might be something God wanted me to say to encourage this gentlemen, but what I found by the time we were done with our 3 minute dialogue was that God wanted to use him to speak to me! Hmm. He actually was a huge encouragement to me in some areas where I needed it.

So God prompted me to begin a conversation with another guy (a guy who may or may not be a Christ-follower), something I would not normally do, so that this guy could encourage me and motivate me. Wow! Not what I expected, but what I definitely needed.

It just serves as a reminder to me that the life lived best is the life that is lived constantly listening to the promptings of God.
