Why is it that I love ketchup but can't stand to eat tomatoes? That question is one that I have been asked several times in my life and one that I don't have a good answer to. But it's true. I love ketchup and can't stand tomatoes.
And while I'll not answer that question today, I do think that a possible answer can be a help for us. While ketchup comes from tomatoes, it is its own unique blend of sugar and spices. Heinz, my favorite brand, has 57 different "herbs and spices." That's even more than KFC's chicken!
Sometimes in life we can take something we don't like, mix it in with some other elements and come out with something that we absolutely love. Or, the opposite is true too. We can take something we love, mix it up with some other elements and end up with something that we absolutely hate. (Chicken salad anyone?)
That whole something-I-like, something-I-hate is where I'm at now. A combination of things has taken something I enjoy and turned it into something that frustrates me. How does one handle that? Well, that is a good question. I'm not quite sure. The one thing that I can tell you is that it does call for me to re-evaluate my priorities and affections and re-examine why I liked this thing from the beginning. If I can get clarity on that, then the whole process has been helpful.
