Tonight I was thinking back to events that occurred almost two millenia ago on this "Good Friday".
By this time of night, Jesus has been crucified and buried. He was probably rushed into the tomb to beat the 6 p.m. deadline that was Jewish law. While he is fulfilling prophecy (waiting 3 days) his disciples are dealing with unfathomable grief and anxiety.
But isn't it good to know the end of the story. In just a couple of hours from now, Jesus' tomb will be found empty and those closest to him will begin to more fully understand exactly what this is all about.
This is what we celebrate on Sunday, this remarkable achievement. The opportunity that we now have to live the life that God always intended for us, both now and throughout eternity. How can Easter not be our favorite holiday!
