So, by January 2009 I had become settled that yes, God actually could have a desire for us to re-locate and could communicate that to me through His Spirit in my soul and not only that, but that he wanted us to begin the process. Frankly, this was completely overwhelming to me. How would God ever bring this about? It was so overwhelming that I struggled to do anything at all.
However, I knew that inaction was in essence disobedience, so I picked out the first thing that needed to happen; get a Realtor. That was easy - my youngest sister a couple years ago left the financial industry to pursue a career in realty and was doing well. So I approac
hed her about what God was doing and asked for her help. She not only agreed to be our realtor, but also agreed to do it at her expense. And while she is doing that, she has served us tremendously in the process (as she does with her other clients) and I am so grateful that God has provided a realtor that we not only trust and is concerned for us, but someone who is working hard for us and is talented and skilled in what she does. We are so thankful for her. When I spoke to her initially, I was hoping that she would give us a long list of things that we needed to do to the house that we would not be able to do because of the cost bringing this adventure in faith to a close. But instead she said this, "Don't worry about those big things, I think you'll be OK with them, you just need to de-clutter your house."
Argh...
De-cluttering is free and we can afford it. So while it may not be something to look forward to, it was another small confirmation that selling our house so we could buy another was the right thing to do. So Amy and I began the process of de-cluttering the house. This is a process that would take us over a month and include a yard sale and multiple trips to Goodwill among other places. A process that continued up until the very day we listed the house on the market.
...to be continued...
