The Power of Truth

Truth is powerful. And while we don't tend to think of "the power of truth" there are many statements in our culture today that bear witness to it.

The popular Anti-Smoking campaign with the great commercials, "Infect...Truth"
Al Gore's Global Warming book and initiative that earned him a Nobel Peace Prize, "An Inconvenient Truth"

And while we may not agree with everyone's take on "the truth", we cannot argue with the power of truth. There is something inside all of us that wants, expects, and even demands the truth. We become frustrated and angry when we feel we've been lied to. And we become extremely inquisitive if we feel someone is holding the truth back from us.

So why? Why is the truth important today in an era when the Elite tell us that there is no truth. They tell us that there are no absolutes, that truth is whatever we want it to be and however we define it.

Well truth is important to us; just like love is important to us; just like justice is important to us. Truth, love and justice are all a reality of our lives. It is a reality to how we were created. We love because we were created to love. we demand justice because we were created desiring it. We appreciate and seek for truth, because we were created that way.

And how were we created? We were created in the image of God. And God is very clear about Himself. God declares that He is not only a God OF love, justice and truth, but that He IS Love, Justice and Truth. He doesn't only embody these traits, He defines them.

So appreciate your desire for these things; love, justice and truth. But as followers of Jesus - as people with a prosperous spirit, understand why you do. Because you were created for them and will spend eternity worshiping them in the person of Jesus.
