What an Ideal Worshipper Looks Like

One of the areas where I have personally grown in the last several years is my understanding of worship; what it looks like, what it means for me and its significance for us a followers of Jesus. So this morning when the intro in my ESV talked about how Psalm 15 describes (or celebrates) the ideal worshipper of God, I took notice.

As I read the Psalm I was intrigued at what it highlighted. A good worshipper is blameless, acts right, speaks the truth to himself, speaks and acts honestly with his neighbor, doesn't take other's offenses, despises the vile person, but honors those who fear the Lord. The Psalm closes by re-emphasizing that an ideal worshipper is honest in his dealings, especially in how he gives and receives money.

The one thing that this Psalm does not touch is this. That doing all these things does not make you a good worshipper. A good worshipper is one who looks like this and in truth; good worship of God is what transforms us to look like this.

My prayer is that I continue to grow in my ability to truly worship my Savior, Jesus Christ and can be described as someone who exemplifies this Psalm.
